RURAL’COM: Challenges of Sustainable Transition in Rural Areas – Sustainable Communities as a Solution

The RURAL’COM project, a collaboration between three NGOs from Romania, Belgium, and Ireland, aims to address the urgent need for sustainable communities in rural areas. Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, this small-scale partnership in adult education focuses on tackling the challenges posed by climate change while empowering rural communities to take ownership of the sustainable transition.

The project’s three primary objectives are:

  1. Exchange of Good Practices: Sharing expertise on promoting and involving sustainable communities in rural regions across the three participating countries.
  2. Capacity Building: Enhancing the skills of local communities and staff members to face climate change by providing access to educational resources and best practices.
  3. Transnational Cooperation: Fostering networking opportunities for the participating organisations, allowing them to collaborate and innovate on sustainability goals.

Expected Impact

By the end of the 15-month project, the RURAL’COM project aims to have significantly increased the capacity of rural communities in Romania, Belgium, and Ireland to engage with and address climate change. The project’s impact will be amplified through widespread dissemination activities, including social media campaigns, newsletters, and local and national events.
